Meghalaya civil body plea to HRD ministry to quash NEHU VC’s appointment

The Organisation also said that the Vice-Chancellor of the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong may be quashed and a new selection committee may be constituted to select the new VC at the earliest.

The Hynniewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation (HITO) has written to the Deputy Secretary (Central Universities), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of HRD (now the Ministry of Education) to quash the appointment of Vice-Chancellor NEHU, Shillong.

The Organisation also said that the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor of the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong may be quashed and a new selection committee be constituted to select the new VC at the earliest.

The HITO added that as per the instruction of the Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT) of India, the process should be completed within 6 (six) months but it has been now entered 8 (eight) months from the date of advertisement.

It may be mentioned that there has been a demand from different quarters to remove the Vice-Chancellor of NEHU, Prof S.K. Srivastava.
