Assam Rifles foil major smuggling attempt in Manipur

The recovered item is estimated to be worth Rs 48.9 lakh.

IMPHAL:

The Moreh Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) foiled an attempt to shuffle gold worth lakhs in Moreh on April 25.

The troops deployed along the Indo-Myanmar Border intercepted two persons trying to cross over into the Indian territory. On checking, one gold biscuit weighing approximately 1 kg was recovered from them.

The recovered item was estimated to be worth Rs 48.9 lakh.

The seized item and apprehended individuals were handed over to Customs Department for further legal action.
