Nagaland: Rs. 18.5 lakh fake currency recovered from wife of NSCN (K) operative

Kohima, April 8: 34 Assam Rifles apprehended Mrs Shelly N.Sumi wife of SS Lt. General; Nikki Sumi of the outfit NSCN (K) yesterday evening at 6:00 pm for possession of fake currency notes worth Rs. 18.5 lakh. The accused along with three other ladies and one boy from Karom village were nabbed on a bus which was travelling from Dimapur to Imphal.

The accused were then handed over to Lamphel Police Station, Manipur for further investigation.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on 10 September 2015 announced a cash reward of Rs. 10 Lakh for any information on the top leader of the NSCN (K) who is wanted for the attack on the Indian Army convoy in 4 June 2016. The incident is considered to be one of the worst attacks suffered by the Indian Army in a decade which resulted in at least 18 soldiers killed and 11 others injured when militants ambushed their convoy in Manipur’s Chandel district.
