Nagaland Congress asks Centre to make ‘Naga peace accord’ public

KOHIMA: The mystery behind the peace accord with the Centre is stirring  emotions of many, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president K Therie has demanded that the Centre come clean and publish the ‘accord,’ the Framework Agreement signed between Union Government and the NSCN-IM.

Congress has issued a statement on the special interview with local media by Interlocutor R N Ravi, one of which rebuked the centre’s interlocutor asking him to “restrain from insulting the intelligence of the Nagas.”

“Central Interlocutor for Naga talks R N Ravi should restrain from insulting the intelligence of the Nagas. He should be honest and come to the point by publishing the accord,” the NPCC statement, appended by KTherie, stated.

It may be noted that the AICC spokesperson Randeep Surjewala in a statement recently said, media statements from T Muivah had raised fears about the agreement which was signed with the Naga group last year. “Whether the Narendra Modi government has promised a separate flag for Nagas other than our proud Tricolour in an agreement with NSCN(IM)?” he asked, adding: “Whether the Modi government has entered into an agreement for a separate passport for Nagas other than an Indian passport?”
