Nagaland: Assam Rifles arrests arms dealer in Dimapur

KOHIMA: The troops of Assam Rifles apprehended one arms dealer from Dimapur town along with arms and ammunition.

According to a statement issued by the PRO of the Inspector general of Assam Rifles (North) said based on specific information, troops of 41 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) along with police representative launched an operation in area of DC Court in Hill View of Dimapur town on February 26.

During the search, 41 Assam Rifles apprehended one individual along with one Point 22 mm Pistol and four live rounds of assorted ammunition.

The apprehended individual was resident of Kuosam village under Kiphire District of Nagaland and was presently residing in Hill View area of Dimapur in a rented house.

The individual has been involved in extortion from shopkeepers using Identity card and weapons and was also apprehended earlier for arms dealing in September 2016.

The apprehended along with the recovered arms and ammunition was handed over to Diphupar Police Station in Dimapur for further investigation, the statement added.
