Nagaland Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation warns goods transporters not to pay UG taxes

KOHIMA, April 11: The Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) Nagaland has warned goods transporters of Dimapur that in the event of entertaining the Naga Political Groups (NPG) or undergrounds in matters of tax will be liable for police action under relevant sections of the law.

In a statement, the ACAUT alleged that the transporters have been approached by some of the factions to deduct tax at source.

“Since wholesalers of footwear items have expressed their inability to give tax to the faction on account of ACAUT, the cadres have aligned themselves with the transporters whereby every carton or crate of footwear will be taxed Rs 150 at the transport godowns itself failing which the goods will not be released,” it claimed.

The ACAUT reminded the factions that due to the burden of taxation in Nagaland, business houses have steadily migrated to Lahorijan and Khatkhati inside Assam state boundary, bordering Dimapur.

“If the Naga movement is based on love for the land, it’s time for the factions to have a serious rethink,” it stated.

It further requested Dimapur Police to watch out for the activities of the transporters, it added
