SHILLONG: The general body of the Shooting association of Meghalaya (SAM) affiliated with the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) in its meeting held recently, decided to hold the State Shooting Championship in the last week of July 2016. The office bearers of SAM also decided that the events for the State Shooting Championship will be in three (3) categories only, namely 10 meter .177 Air pistol, 10 meter .177 Air Rifle and .22 Rifle in 50 meter prone position only. The first two events in 10 meter .177 Air weapons will be held, as per rules prescribed by the ISSF (International Shooting Sports Federation ) and NRAI (National Rifle Association of India) and held under a ISSF judge, who will be present during the competition to oversee that all competitions and weapons are as prescribed.
Air pistol and air rifle from Germany
Through a lot of follow up, voluntary contributions and hard work, Shooting Association of Meghalaya (SAM) has recently acquired new expensive competition class weapons (two air pistols and two air rifles) from Germany and through National Rifle Association of India(NRAI), training for both junior and senior girls and boys will shortly commence simultaneously, paving the way for regular Shooting Competition.
The championship in the .22 Rifle category will be open to all residents of Meghalaya who hold a valid .22 Rifle license, the issuing of forms will be on first come basis and forms will be limited.
This event will be for one day only. A separate camp will be organized for the 10 meter .177 air weapons for school and college students under the age of 18 years. Those interested may contact by text message to 94361 03685 or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
This will be the second edition of the State Championship, to be held in Shillong to be conducted under the aegis of the National Rifle Association of India(NRAI) and judged by a ISSF certified judge.
