SHILLONG, May 18: Celebrating the 70 long years he has been on this earth with a difference, Northeast India’s renowned musician and the forever young rockstar from Shillong, Lou Majaw on Thursday decided to ‘walk’ from Shillong to Jowai with aim to raise awareness on the need to live a healthy and responsible lifestyle.
Majaw kicked started from Shillong at 4 am on Thursday morning and till the filing of this report (4pm), he has crossed Mawryngkneng. Accompanied by friends from Shillong, Jowai and Guwahati, Lou is hopeful to be joined by more people from Puriang in East Khasi Hills.
Treading the 65 kms long journey from Shillong to Jowai, Lou and his friends hope to reach Jowai by nightfall.
When contacted, Mr Lou said “This walk is to mark my 70th birth anniversary and it is a walk for health,” adding that few changes in our lifestyle will not hurt anyone, instead helps us live longer.
It was also informed that this walk is a curtain raiser for the 76th birth anniversary celebration of Bob Dylan.
On reaching Jowai, the musician will stay back for a few more days to prepare for the big day – the 20th celebration of the Bob Dylan Festival 2017.
Besides this, Jowai is set to witness more than just a walk, but melodious music is expected to lift the spirits in the days to come.
