Manipur Election creates ripple effect in Meghalaya: NPP leader Conrad Sangma to hold crucial meet

Imphal, March 12: The Congress and BJP have both failed to secure absolute majority belying the predictions of many exit polls, however Congress managed to emerge as the single largest party with 28 seats, just three short of the magic number of 31 in the house of 60 to qualify to form the next government.

The final tally is Congress 28, BJP 21, NPP 4, NPF 4, AITC 1, LJP 1 and Independent 1

This Hung-Assembly situation has created ripples even among NPP members in Meghalaya. In an interview, Meghalaya NPP leader Conrad Sangma was quoted as saying that whether or Manipur NPP will form an ally with BJP is yet to be decided and that there will be a meeting on the same wherein a leader will be elected. Only after the meet, the NPP’s final decision would be disclosed.
