AIZAWL, May 18: Plenty has been said and written about Aizawl FC’s plight which has put a huge damper in the celebrations and we are yet to see what outcome will emerge out of the it. The new roadmap of Indian football aims to combine the two main leagues of the country, namely, the Indian Super League (ISL) and the I-League.
With just 3 teams from the I-League to be included in the newly formed league, it seems illogical to not have the reigning Champions of the I-league.
However coming to more positive things for Mizoram, FC Pune City, a club in the ISL has tied up with Chanmari FC.Chanmari FC is a club in Mizoram which currently plays in the Mizoram Premier League (MPL) and are its current Champions.
The MPL is extremely popular in the state and very competitive. This alliance between the Pune club and Chanmari will be of huge benefit to Mizoram and its players. The partnership between the two will also extend to the academies and Pune City will give opportunities to the young players of Chanmari to play for FC Pune City.
This will give exposure to many of the Mizoram players and with the state being a hotbed of talent, this will only help further their growth and development. Pune will also help with the betterment of the youth academy by providing coaches and training equipment.
There has never been any doubt that the talent in Mizoram is unparallel to any in the country and with clubs turning their focus to the Northeast and tying up with local clubs and helping set up academies, this just reinforces the belief that greater things are to come from the region in terms of football.
This alliance will help players from a very young age get proper training and develop their abilities and hence live up to their potential.
