Assam: Rare species of 'Crocodile Fish' recovered in Kamalpur!

April 16, 2017: A rare species of Crocodile Fish which is generally found in marine, brackish, and freshwater habitats along the Indian Ocean and western Pacific, was found today in a backyard pond of one Utpal Kakati, while fishing. Also known as ‘Butis Butis’, the crazy fish, a sleeper goby is found in marine, brackish, and freshwater habitats along the Indian Ocean and western Pacific.

This fish is generally categorized as an ornamental fish. The situation created much amusement among the local villagers in the area. Kamalpur is a town in Kamrup District of Assam.
