Assam IPS officer heads National Investigation Agency team into Bhopal-Ujjain blast probe

GUWAHATI, March 19: Assam cadre IPS officer Sanjukta Parashar who was known for her immense courage and incredible work of fighting against militants is now taking charge of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) into the Bhopal-Ujjain train blast, triggered by suspected ISIS terrorists that led to at least ten people getting injured.

Sanjukta had recently visited Sujalpur area, where suspected ISIS terrorists triggered the blast and started probe of first suspected ISIS attack in the country.

She has led numerous counter insurgency operations against militants in her earlier assignment as the Superintendent of Police in northern Assam’s Sonitpur district.

Sanjukta had completed her graduation in political science from Indraprastha College under Delhi University and completed her post graduation in International Relations from Jawaharlal Nehru University. She also earned an M.Phil followed by PhD in US foreign policy.

The brave IPS officer of Assam of 2006 batch was first posted as the Assistant Commandant in Makum in 2008.

Recently, Sanjukta took charge as the National Investigation Agency (NIA) SP on deputation.
