Assam: Child Protection Day celebrated in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: More than 1200 school children and key stakeholders from various parts of Assam, Chairpersons, Members of 24 States Commissions for Protection of Child Rights from India, gathered together in Guwahati to celebrate Child Protection Day on Wednesday.

The Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (ASCPCR), in collaboration with UNICEF, Assam Field Office, celebrated the Child Protection Day in Assam on Wednesday at the TRP Indoor Stadium in Guwahati.

Chief Justice of Guwahati High Court, Justice K.Shreedhar Rao, inaugurated the celebration as chief guest.

David Machloulin Dy Director, UNICEF India Country Office was present as Special Guest. UNICEF reiterated its commitment towards assisting the Commissions in their endeavors.

The inaugural Session was followed by cultural performance. Children from Sishu Sarathi, Bal Bhawan, Blind School Guwahati.

The programme concluded with a pledge took by all Chairpersons, Members of State Commission for Protection of Child Rights.
