Assam: Central Silk Board, Hatigaon leads the way in ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’!

May 18, 2017: The valedictory function of the fortnight long “Swachchhata Pakhwada” which kicked off on 1st of May 2017 culminated at the office campus of Muga Silkworm Seed Organization & Regional Office, Central Silk Board, Hatigaon, Guwahati on 15th  of May 2017 with a positive note to continue and percolate the spirit of Swachchhata in action.

Dr. Reena Choudhury, Scientist-D welcomed dignitaries, local leaders & officials, followed by traditional lighting of the lamp.

Shri B. Choudhury, Scientist-D & Head highlighted that different activities such as massive cleaning drive of office and surroundings, lavatories, common passages, main road near the vicinity of the public place, markets, schools etc. have been taken up under the programme during the period. It is informed that awareness programmes were organized by this office at Sericulture Cluster Village Henapara, involving the villagers and also special mention was made of the visit of the team CSB, Guwahati to Guwahati Blind School, where apart from cleaning drive of the school campus, competitions were organized on Swachchhata and the students very enthusiastically participated and they were awarded prizes for their earnest thoughts and strong-will as they expressed towards the society.

The invited Guest Md. Manu, Secretary, VDP and local social worker viewed that it is time that we as a citizen, should abide by the social obligation of cleanliness as is the theme of Swachchhata Abhiyan. Shri Amal Barua, Asstt. Supdt. (T) Viewed that it could be a launching pad for initiating a long lasting and effective clean and green programme in the local area.

Chief Guest Md. Jamal Rahman, President, Radient Club, Sijubari an ardent social worker expressed that Central Silk Board team have set an example for trend setting the future course in this area where local people can join hands to emulate the good cause.

The Chairperson Shri Sarat Deori, Joint Secretary (Tech.) Regional Office noted that the officials of Central Silk Board have also been previously associated in the cleanliness drive in the nearby areas as well as at the Notboma School where awareness has been created. He highly valued the association of local people and local figures of the society who can be pivotal force in bringing the changes of habit of cleanliness as they are in constant touch and can influence the local mass immensely.

Thereafter, the function concluded with the vote of thanks to all attending the function and making it successful by Shri S.P. Konwer, Assistant Director (OL).
