Assam: CCTV camera found in ladies trial room at a hotel in Guwahati!

GUWAHATI: With rapid rise in the number of instances of crime against women in Assam, the state is now renowned for cases of uncontrolled crime against females. In view of this, another shocking incident has come to light that has badly tainted the image of the capital city, Guwahati.

Amrita Kaur on October 18 lodged an FIR against the manager of Contour Hotel located at the heart of the city in Paltan Bazaar. As per her statement, the hotel had organized an event known as Boutiques of India 2016.

Many visitors from within the city and outside attended the event and Amrita Kaur, a resident of Guwahati was also part of it. She visited the exhibition with her friend and family members.

However, when Amrita’s friend went into the trial room to try out a costume, she found a CCTV camera to her dismay. Immediately after the disclosure, Amrita took pictures of the CCTV camera as evidence and posted the same with a status on her Facebook Page.

When TNT tried to contact the hotel authorities, they were unavailable to receive any calls. However, on enquiry about the progress of the FIR, we were informed by Amrita herself that the hotel technician has been arrested by the police who has been sent by court into judicial custody as of now.

Further, she also informed that a senior police official of Paltan Bazar Police Station informed her that the CCTV footage has been sent for its authenticity check whose reports are awaited.

“I want the culprits to be punished whoever he or she is”, Amrita added.
