SHILLONG, March 16 2017: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma on Thursday informed that the state government has licenses to as many as 56 industries through a Single Window Agency at Byrnihat in Ri Bhoi district in the past one decade.
Informing this during the ongoing budget session on Thursday, Dr Sangma told the house that as many as 56 industries have been granted licenses from the government during a period from 1st January 2008 to 28 February 2017.
Replying to a question raised by HSPDP legislator from Nongkrem Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit, Chief Minister said that the State Government would examine the proposals which are submitted before awarding the license for the setting up of the industrial units.
Meanwhile, replying to a supplementary question raised by Basaiawmoit on the tax holiday awarded to these industries, Dr Sangma informed that the tax holiday offered to the various industries was kept in abeyance since 2014.
Highlighting on the benefits of setting up these industries, the chief minister said that the people of the State are getting direct and indirect benefits from these industries which include employment opportunities and income generation.
